Family- Parents: Isadore Abelkop and Edith Swartz; Spouse: Harriet Jacobs

According to his son Bill, Milton was raised by his maternal grandmother Edith Swartz in Lancaster Pennsylvania after his parents separated. He later returned to Durham to work in the “rendering business” where he would grind down excess scraps in order to make dog food.

According to Howard Margolis, his nickname was Mickie and he was a pretty good bridge player.
