Solomon Zuckerman 1881-1952
Family- Children: Jacob
Solomon originally hawked newspapers on the street. He later became a tailor, and then a furrier.
He was involved in community organizations such as the Hebrew Social and Literary Society formed in 1913. The society was a means of the Jewish community in Durham to find ways to fraternize. He served as vice president when E. J. Evans was president.
He was a very kind gentleman. His daughter-in-law Dorothy's father died when she was 5 and Solomon was like a father to her. His son Jacob and Dorothy's betrothal was the first Jewish wedding of native Durhamites. He was very exact and everything had to be perfect. He was also very religious.
