Family-
Arenow arrived in the United States in 1936. He was a peddler traveling through the region, when he spent a night in Durham and joined a card game. There, he discovered that he had distant cousins in Durham and decided to stay. He never married. His nickname was "cousin." Arenow first worked as a street peddler. In later years he would earn a living by going down to the shore where he ran a "Guess your Weight" booth. He ran the booth until he was 91.
