Marvin was born with severe congenital physical and mental difficulties. Though the doctors predicted he would only live a year, his mother's absolute devotion to him helped him live to the age of nine. His mother always hoped the he would recover.

As a kohen, the father would not go into the cemetery. Therefore, Marvin was buried in the cemetery by the wall facing the street, so that the father could see him and say blessings from the street. His mother died shortly after Marvin passed away.
