Morris Sher came from Vidzh, Lithuania when he was 15. He never talked about his childhood. He had a clothing store. He learned English by reading signs on roads and according to his son, Horace, no one would have been able to detect an accent. Horace remembered that his bookcase was always filled with dictionaries. His health deteriorated during the last decade of his life.
